Andersen Ranch Greenspace Initiative
The Andersen Ranch is the one of the last large green spaces in Carson City. Located in the heart of Carson City's west side, this keystone, gateway property affords majestic, up-close and personal views of the Carson Range. Identified as an "At Risk Area for Preservation" in the initial Carson City Open Space Plan, it was pursued for acquisition. However, after talks between the City and owners stalled during the economic downturn, the pursuit faltered.
Recently, this magnificent property has come under threat of being intensely developed. SOS Carson City is working to preserve this park as greenspace, as natural or community park with recreational access. |

Lompa Ranch Initiative
In March, the Carson City Board of Supervisors approved zoning changes that would allow a mix of higher-density residences, including apartments, condominiums and single-family homes to be developed. With the change, a maximum of 2,500 residential units are expected to be built, as well as mixed-use residential and neighborhood commercial.
Such zoning changes set a bad precedent for future development and growth of our city and do nothing to support the downtown redevelopment that taxpayers are funding. SOS Carson City is working to maximize greenspace recreational opportunities on this development. Subscribe to stay informed of our efforts on this issue! |
